Past Events

Southbury - July 1999. An elderly man is missing from his home in a retirement community. CCSAR is called to assist the Southbury Fire Department in their overnight efforts. The man is found the next morning after presumably spending the night on a neighbor's porch.

Martha's Vineyard, Mass. - July 1999, CCSAR was called to assist Duke's County Search and Rescue on Martha's Vineyard looking for the missing JF Kennedy, Jr. plane.  Dog teams worked the south shore of the island on the beaches under burning sun with temperatures in the 90's.  The plane was found the next day in an area miles from the search sectors.  The following day the Massachusetts State Police requested the dog teams return to a beach where dogs had expressed interest during the search.

Litchfield - July 1999 CCSAR is called out as part of a multi-agency search for James Garris, an 80-year-old man missing since the previous morning. Temperatures were in the high 90's and the humidity was near 100% making hyperthermia a threat for the missing man, searchers and canines. The case is still being investigated.

Westerly, Rhode Island - The Westerly Police called CCSAR out to assist in a case of a missing man on February 1999. CCSAR teams searched several areas and were assisted by members of Rescue Dogs Incorporated.
